You're My Fate – Part 19

 Part 19—The Sound of Silence

The room was quiet, but Rasiya’s heart was loud.

Fifteen days.

Fifteen sunsets without his name on her screen. Fifteen nights where she didn’t fall asleep to his voice. She had blocked him—not out of anger, but out of the desperate need to protect her soul. Every little notification had started to feel like a blade. And today, when she least expected it… his name showed up again.

A single reply to her Father’s Day wish.
"Thank you, it means a lot."

The words were simple. But they weren’t just words to her.
They were memories. They were late-night calls. They were arguments.
They were silent prayers. They were hope.

Rasiya stared at the message until her eyes blurred with tears.
She wasn’t ready for this. Not again.

She wanted to scream:
"If it meant so much, why did you let me go?"
But the silence on her end screamed louder.

She curled up near the window, watching the raindrops race each other down the glass. Sivam noticed her quietness during their usual call that evening.

“Rasi,” his voice was gentle, “are you okay?”

She smiled faintly. “Yeah… just had a moment. You know how it is.”

Sivam paused. He knew. He always knew.

“Do you still believe he’s your fate?” he asked softly.

Rasiya wiped her tears and looked up at the sky.

“I think fate isn’t always about ending up together,” she said. “Sometimes fate is just about meeting someone who changes you forever.”

There was a pause.

Then Sivam whispered, “And maybe you’re someone else’s fate too.”

That night, as Rasiya lay in bed, she thought about all the versions of love she had imagined with him. But she also thought about the version of herself she had become in the absence of his love. A woman who still cried but didn’t beg. A heart that still broke but didn’t chase.

She didn't know what the future held.
But tonight, she chose something different.
She chose herself.

And that—was a beginning.
